“Peace Park” Gathering Space
The Project: Madison Area Technical College created this sheltered gathering area for students, faculty, and the community. A large globe is at the focal point, and each of the continents has been “projected” from the surface to enclose the space (which is why the continents appear reversed as you stand inside the ring). Visitors are given the sense of being sheltered by the world itself.
Materials: The globe is aluminum with paint and tinted clear-coat. The projected continents are unfinished Weathering Steel (CorTen)
