In the Wisconsin State Capitol’s Assembly Chamber all the desks are anchored to the floor. So, did you ever think about how they change the bulbs that encircle the skylight?
Looking up at the ornate, gilt fixtures, you’d never guess that they are movable. In fact, each one can be individually lowered to floor level when the bulb needs changing. It was quite a feat of problem-solving, to create fixtures that suit the décor of the room and which would correctly orient themselves when retracted to ceiling height, but that’s precisely what we did.
